#9 – Nimbin

20th Feb 2019 – Safe to safe I am well and truly recovered from my ‘high’! We managed to get down to Rye for a couple of days which was perfect as we both got to have some time to ourselves, even though we spent it working. We enjoyed the relaxing vibe of just being away from home. I made an effort to get out of the house and start exercising a little bit, so I set up my Garmin and aimed for 5000 steps. I was a bit slow but I got there and my steps keep increasing each day 🚶‍♀️ I have now worked out that I seem to be much hungrier in the mornings (maybe due to the oil/brownies and a delayed version of the ‘munchies’!) so have been trying to have multiple breakfasts and then I don’t need to stress so much if I’m not very hungry for dinner. FYI – my favourite dinner this week was steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots with butter – DELICIOUS! I’ve had a few little milestones too… I did a proper sneeze without any pain!! YAY!! It’s the small things that are so exciting because it makes me feel like myself again 😊

22nd Feb 2019 – Up bright and early this morning to fly to Byron Bay ✈ We booked this trip last year so I was so happy when it timed out that it was my ‘off’ week and wouldn’t interrupt any of my treatment! Our first stop was Nimbin – which was not on our original itinerary but felt quite appropriate to visit considering the circumstances! And I’m so glad we did. It’s a cute little hippy town with good food, quirky shops, lovely people and a place for me to get some ‘medical marijuana’! We had a recommendation to visit a particular shop (down an alley and through the unmarked back door) to get supplies and it didn’t disappoint. There was a line of people waiting to have consults with the volunteer workers, who then determined what would be the best product for you based on your situation. They were really lovely and made me feel comfortable that I was buying the best thing for me, as well as just doing the right thing for myself by using marijuana as medicine. I even got a big hug to wish me luck! And so I started out with my new THC oil tonight. A smaller dropper to usual so 2 drops was completely fine!

23rd Feb 2019 – We were typical tourists today in Byron Bay! Started our morning at The Farm – where I had my 2nd breakfast – which was really pretty. The weather was fairly terrible but we still managed to visit the animals and laugh at a certain someone who was scared of the bin chickens 😂 Mum, Jordyn (my sister) and I then went to Crystal Castle which was the perfect place for us. I wouldn’t normally call myself a spiritual person, but I feel like this experience with cancer so far has made me more spiritual. Most likely due to Elyse practically feeding me crystals HAHA But I do believe in the power of positivity and using any method to fight against this stupid thing called cancer. So at Crystal Castle I did everything possible to help my healing – including hugging extremely large crystals and adding to my ever-growing crystal collection! I even sat in the giant amethyst Dragon’s Egg and heard and felt the vibrations ❤ My only concern today was how hot my hands were (another random side effect) but the crystals were cold so it was perfect! I had a great day today and was feeling really positive about everything 👍

24th Feb 2019 – Loved lying in bed listening to the rain this morning – one of my favourite things! I walked to find a cafe for my 1st breakfast since no one else was awake yet, but 10 mins later my dad joined me and we had a lovely chat over brekkie 😊 At 2nd breakfast I had the biggest pancake ever and it was delicious – definitely getting the morning munchies!! I did manage to get over 12,000 steps done today so have upped my new daily goal to 10,000. I feel that’s manageable when I’m not on holidays as I tend to walk a lot more when away than at home anyway. We said goodbye to Byron and drove back to the Gold Coast for the flight home. But not before ticking a few things off the list of things to do in Queensland. For example, making Anthony’s day/holiday, by eating at Taco Bell 🌮 Literally he was as happy as a kid with ice cream! And speaking of ice cream, my go-to whenever on holidays in Queensland is to go to Cold Rock! So off we went and I got my favourite ice cream and enjoyed every bit of it while I could. FYI: When I’m physically having chemo & for at least a few days afterwards, I can’t eat, drink or touch anything too cold. So ice-cream is a no go during that time… I had a few slight pangs of pain in my liver every so often throughout the day today, but nothing too bad where I needed to take any pain killers. Until the last 20 mins of the plane ride home… By the time I got off the plane my liver was hurting quite a bit and I felt myself hunching over while walking out. Didn’t even wait to get home before having a couple of drops of oil – took it right out the front of the airport 😂

My love 💕

HAHA Emma! I was getting too comfortable on the couch after the first round so feeling much better now that I’m able to get out and about! Already at 8000 steps for today and it’s only lunchtime 😊

My little Space Cadet, you make me laugh & always with you in spirit (or texting)…….my burning question, how did you avoid the drug screening at Airport?? Or were you just lucky? 🤣🤣

What a wonderful weekend getaway we all had. Not sorry for my driving skills – it was the shitty POT holes everywhere (see what I did there hahaha). It was so nice seeing you out and about and loving all the food. Loved being able to go to Crystal Castle (or Universe or Palace LOL) with you and Jordyn. I put everything out to the Universe and hope it was listening!!!
