#1 – Positive Party

10th Jan 2019 – Today was the day I found out I had cancer.

Over the next week I had multiple blood tests, an abdominal ultrasound, X-ray, PET scan, Colonoscopy and Liver Biopsy. All of these procedures confirmed that I had bowel cancer and it had spread to my liver. It is classified as Stage 4 Bowel Cancer.

Apparently, I like to be placed in the less than 1% category. Meaning, it’s extremely rare to have a tiny 12mm tumor in your bowel spread so aggressively to your liver. The oncologists couldn’t believe that I hadn’t shown any symptoms of bowel cancer and were surprised that it was happening to such a healthy, fit, young person. I don’t think the average age of a bowel cancer patient is anywhere under 50 years old.

I’ve had a couple of weeks to let all of this sink in and that’s where the ‘POSITIVE PARTY’ comes into play. The positive party is a simple little thing that can help lift my spirits if I’m not feeling that great. Anyone can do it and it usually consists of sticking your thumbs up in the air and dancing around! I’ll also accept positive quotes and affirmations as part of the positive party! So let’s focus on the positives and F**K cancer!
