#23 – Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

26th June 2019 – Time for chemo #10. It was a freezing morning so I rugged up and off we went bright and early to Peter Mac. By the time we got started it was after 11am. My port stung a bit when it was accessed but apart from that it was fine. Today was my first time having a lower dose of Chemo so I was hoping that would mean side effects are a little nicer to me. Unfortunately that was not the case. As soon as chemo started I felt foggy – which is normal – but it lasted the entire time. I was also very tired and went downhill pretty quickly once we got home 😷 Almost as soon as we got home I had to have a nausea tablet and ended up having a few across the rest of the afternoon. On top of that I had about 8 drops in the hopes of just falling asleep and not having to deal with the nausea. But my body had different plans and I didn’t get the slightest bit high. So I resorted to a brownie which eventually helped me get to sleep but not before I’d made a pile of pillows high enough to sleep sitting upright.

28th June 2019 – I hadn’t slept very well overnight so didn’t get up til after 11am. I went for a little walk before having some visitors come over to keep me company while Anthony was at work. The yuk taste in my mouth has come back, but when I eat or drink it goes away again so I guess it’s helping me eat a bit more! I’ve had a sore upper back for a few days now and have been slightly worried as it’s the same pain I felt at the start of the year.. Luckily, it started to get better after some myotherapy sessions!

4th July 2019 – I had a good sleep last night so was productive enough to work today. I had quite a bit of ‘poking’ pains in my liver throughout the day but I like to think of it as Pac Man still working hard in there!! Our friends came over to visit and we just hung out with a cheese platter and a bottle of red wine. Also known as the perfect day 🍷 We had a lovely afternoon with some of our most positive and caring friends and I hope they know how much we appreciate their friendship 💖

7th July 2019 – I felt pretty good this weekend. We had more friends come and stay with us in Rye which was really fun. We went to markets, ate delicious food and played games! We decided to drive home along the beach and pick up some fresh seafood for dinner. Elyse joined us for our delicious dinner and it was such a healthy, fresh meal. Because of my tastes changing it makes it difficult to eat well so that’s been another issue to deal with. I feel yuk, bloated and none of my pants fit me comfortably anymore ☹ On a completely opposite note, my hair is doing really well and I think it’s starting to grow back!!

8th July 2019 – For some reason I barely slept last night… I had to be up at 7am to have enough time to get my blood test done this morning. Anthony had to work so I went in by myself but Peter Mac was so busy that I went across to Royal Melbourne for the blood test. There wasn’t a single person waiting there – I should’ve taken it as a sign. I fainted. It hasn’t happened before so I slightly freaked out when I came to and saw random people staring at me! I don’t think I’d eaten enough for brekkie so they gave me some juice and decided to take blood from my arm instead of from my port. I saw my oncologist today and everything is looking good!

I had to take my gorgeous kitten Kya to the vet today and unfortunately we ended up having to say goodbye to her 😢 My poor little kitty was 18 years old, sick and barely moved the whole car ride, which is very unusual for her. I was an absolute mess for the rest of the night and was just hoping we had made the right decision. One thing I am happy about is that Kya definitely lived her best life and even got to go out for brunch recently! Love you my beautiful kitty 💕

Hi Keely, So sad to hear about Kya… she certainly lived a long life – despite putting up with Kozi and Aaron annoying her to no end ! Haha

She was blessed to be in a family that loved her so much. Miss you Kya xxx

Keep up the good work, keep the fight going… we’re with you both xxx Oh, just get bigger pants, the ones with elastic 🙂

This post made me tear up, darling Kya. Hardest part of loving a pet, saying goodbye 💔 but what a great life she had…..88 in human years……..fun fact.
This rollercoaster ride has had so many twists & turns, we are all on this ride with you ❤❤❤❤

Oh Keely so sad to hear about Kya. But your right she had a wonderful life, I don’t remember a time she wasn’t around when you were home or with family. It must be hard having nausea so bad you just want to go to sleep. You are such a trooper with all the ups and downs you’ve had. We are all by your side during your journey the highs and the lows. Keep at it though your results have been very positive and yay your hairs growing back!!! You can do this lots of love and hugs Ally xxx
